Job summary

AEP is seeking a Line Mechanic C to perform installation, rearrangement, maintenance, operation, removal and inspection of electrical transmission and distribution facilities. The role builds upon Line Mechanic D (or equivalent) skills and requires proximity to Williamson, WV for on-site work.

The position involves required online assessments and adherence to safety protocols, with progression through line mechanics as skill and training advance.

Qualifications

• Line work on transmission and distribution facilities.
• Ability to install, maintain and inspect underground and overhead lines.
• Willingness to work under supervision and progress through skill levels.

Responsibilities

• Assist with assembly, installation, maintenance and inspection of underground facilities and conductors.
• Operate and load/unload equipment and perform ground person duties as required.
• Maintain tools and vehicles, ensure safety and report irregularities.
• Perform pole top rescue and bucket truck rescue as trained.
• Protect or control work areas with barricades and signage.
• Record readings on kilowatt-hour meters and complete required reports.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
