Job summary

AEP is seeking a Line Mechanic C to perform installation, maintenance, and inspection of electrical transmission and distribution facilities across overhead and underground lines. Candidates must reside within the service territory and have related line experience or completion of required certifications.

The role progresses through C-100 to C-400 levels with skill development, including energized work up to 600 volts under appropriate supervision. A valid Class A CDL is required.

Qualifications

• Minimum of one year distribution electrical power line work experience.
• Alternative: one year of related line experience with a one-year electrical power line school certificate plus 16 weeks internship or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, install, maintain, remove and inspect overhead and underground facilities including conductors and transformers.
• Test, de-energize and ground URD cable, splice and terminate URD cable and troubleshoot energized equipment.
• Work on conductors and equipment energized up to 600 volts under supervision as skill level dictates.
• Build and erect equipment mountings and overhead transformer installations.
• Direct the work of employees assigned to assist and complete monthly apprentice cards.
