Job summary

Alliant Energy is seeking a skilled line mechanic apprentice/journeyman to construct, maintain and repair electric facilities across the service area. The role involves installing conductors, operating heavy equipment, and restoring service safely under varying weather conditions.

Applicants must complete the line mechanic apprenticeship and pass the line mechanic exam, with CDL eligibility prior to end of trial period. DOT drug testing applies and safety rules must be followed.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of line mechanic apprenticeship.
• Passage of line mechanic examination.
• Ability to obtain a Commercial Driver's License before end of trial period.
• Subject to DOT drug and alcohol testing requirements.

Responsibilities

• Construct, dismantle, maintain and repair electric facilities.
• Install, tension, and remove conductors and lines.
• Operate basket, digger, trenching and other construction equipment.
• Restore electric service safely after outages or equipment failures.
• Install and maintain street and security lighting equipment.
• Respond to emergency callouts to ensure public and employee safety.
