Job summary

Alliant Energy in Cedar Rapids, IA, seeks a skilled line mechanic apprentice or journey-level technician to build and maintain electric facilities. You will install conductors, frame and climb poles, operate heavy equipment, and restore service safely after outages.

Requires completion of line mechanic apprenticeship and passing the exam. Must obtain a Commercial Driver's License by the end of the trial period and comply with DOT drug testing requirements.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of line mechanic apprenticeship.
• Passage of line mechanic examination.
• Ability to obtain a Commercial Driver's License prior to the end of trial period.
• DOT drug and alcohol testing requirements compliance.

Responsibilities

• Constructs, dismantles, maintains, replaces, repairs and operates electric facilities.
• Install, tension, tie in and remove conductors/guys.
• Install/remove, frame and climb poles, towers and other structures.
• Operate and maintain construction equipment and vehicles.
• Restore electric service safely after outages or faults.
• Install underground electrical equipment and related gear.
• Respond to emergency callouts to ensure safety.
