Job summary

Alliant Energy is hiring for a line apprentice/journey level role. The position constructs, maintains, restores, and operates electric facilities and lines, with training at IPL Technical Training Center. You will install conductors, operate trucks, and respond to outages with safety as a priority.

Expected to travel from home to assigned headquarters within 35 minutes and comply with DOT and FMCSA rules. Strong reading, math and teamwork skills required.

Qualifications

• Completion of line mechanic apprenticeship or equivalent.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical diagrams and specs.
• Familiarity with safety rules and operating practices.

Responsibilities

• Construct, maintain, repair and operate electric facilities and lines.
• Install, tension, tie in, and remove conductors and guys.
• Operate construction equipment and perform daily safety inspections.
• Respond to outages and restore service safely and promptly.
• Lead or assist in training others as needed.
