Job summary

Alliant Energy is seeking an Apprentice/Journey line mechanic to construct, maintain and repair electric facilities in a safe, efficient manner. Responsibilities include installing conductors, climbing poles and operating specialized equipment to restore service as needed.

Candidates must have completed a line mechanic apprenticeship and be able to obtain a Commercial Driver's License by the end of the trial period. DOT drug/alcohol testing applies; strong safety and teamwork are required.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of line mechanic apprenticeship.
• Satisfactory passage of line mechanic examination.
• Ability to obtain a Commercial Driver's License prior to end of trial period.

Responsibilities

• Install, tension, tie in and remove conductors/guys.
• Climb poles, towers and structures; operate construction equipment.
• Restore electric service safely after outages and emergencies.
• Perform daily equipment inspections and maintain materials on hand.
