Job summary

Alliant Energy in Iowa is seeking a line mechanic apprentice or journey-level technician to construct, maintain and operate electric facilities from IPL Technical Training Center and Osceola Operations Center. You will install conductors, climb poles, operate construction equipment, and respond to outages, all while following safety rules.

This role requires completion of line mechanic apprenticeship, ability to obtain a Commercial Driver's License, and passing DOT drug and alcohol testing.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of line mechanic apprenticeship.
• Satisfactory passage of line mechanic examination.

Responsibilities

• Install, tension, tie in and remove conductors/guys.
• Install/remove, frame and climb poles, towers and other structures.
• Operate heavy construction equipment and maintain related gear.
• Restore electric service after weather or equipment failure.
• Load and haul poles, transformers and material to job sites.
• Respond to emergency callouts to insure the safety of the public and employees.
• Work in a variety of adverse weather conditions as system condition warrant.
• Perform daily equipment inspections.
