Job summary

Alliant Energy is seeking a Line Mechanic Apprentice to begin a hands-on career repairing and maintaining electrical distribution systems. You will learn to construct, dismantle, maintain, replace, repair and operate electrical facilities under experienced mentors.

The role offers CDL readiness, safety training, and opportunities across multiple training centers, with duties including field testing, weather-related restorations, and emergency response. Competitive hourly pay is provided.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Ability to obtain a Commercial Driver's License prior to end of trial period.
• Knowledge of safety rules and operating practices relevant to line work.

Responsibilities

• Install, tension, and connect conductors and related hardware.
• Frame, climb, and work on poles, towers, and structures.
• Operate construction vehicles and equipment.
• Restore electric service promptly after outages or incidents.
• Install and maintain street lighting and other electrical infrastructure.
• Work safely on energized lines and follow company safety rules.
