Job summary

Alliant Energy in Cedar Rapids, IA, is seeking a skilled line mechanic to construct, maintain, and restore electric service. The role covers installing conductors, climbing poles, and operating heavy equipment in various weather conditions.

Qualified candidates will have completed a line mechanic apprenticeship, pass the line mechanic exam, and be able to obtain a CDL by the end of the trial period. DOT drug testing applies; visa sponsorship is not supported.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of line mechanic apprenticeship.
• Satisfactory passage of line mechanic examination.
• Ability to obtain a Commercial Driver's License prior to the end of trial period.
• This position is subject to DOT drug and alcohol testing requirements under 49 CFR Part 40 and FMCSA regulations (Part 382).

Responsibilities

• Install, tension, tie in and remove conductors/ guys.
• Install/remove, frame and climb poles, towers and other structures.
• Operate and maintain hydraulic/air tools and systems.
• Restore electric service after outages or failures in a safe, prompt manner.
• Install and maintain street and security lighting equipment.
