Job summary

Birnam Wood Golf Club in Montecito, CA is seeking a full-time prep cook to support the Executive Chef by preparing meats, seafood, poultry and vegetables according to standard recipes and the daily prep list.

You will set up stations, coordinate with kitchen staff, monitor stock, handle leftovers properly and keep work areas clean. A high school diploma or GED plus culinary coursework and food safety certification are preferred, with two years of kitchen experience.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Successful completion of a two-year culinary program.
• Food safety certification required.
• Minimum two years of kitchen preparation and cooking experience.

Responsibilities

• Take inventory of items required for station setup and determine items to prepare.
• Prepare items according to standard recipes.
• Coordinate and time orders with other kitchen operations.
• Requisition items needed to produce menu items; notify Chef of shortages.
• Keep assigned work areas and equipment clean and sanitary.
• Set up, maintain and break down prep cook station; store leftovers properly.
• Attend kitchen staff meetings and offer suggestions for improvements.
• Assist with other duties as assigned by Chef.
