Job summary

The Knickerbocker, a Highgate hotel, in Times Square, seeks a Cook to prepare food for Restaurants, Room Service, Employee Cafeteria and Banquets that meet the hotel standards. You will maintain sanitation, safety, and cost control in the kitchen.

Ideal candidates have a High School diploma, culinary experience, and flexibility for long hours; the ability to stand and lift up to 50 pounds; knowledge of standard recipes and kitchen equipment; and a collaborative, team-oriented approach.

Qualifications

• Culinary experience required.
• Flexible and long hours sometimes required.
• Ability to stand during entire shift and lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness and organization of all storage areas.
• Prepare and complete necessary food prep prior to opening to ensure timely service.
• Prepare and display buffet items according to hotel standards.
• Recognize quality standards in vegetables, fish, dairy and meats.
• Maintain a clean and sanitary kitchen environment and proper storage.
