Job summary

The Grand Traverse Resort is seeking a Cook 1 to handle daily food preparation and production following established recipes and presentation standards. You will work to ensure efficiency, safety, sanitation, and guest satisfaction across the kitchen, with emphasis on quality and teamwork.

Qualifications

• 6 months to 1 year of culinary experience in a professional kitchen.
• Must pass a background investigation and drug screen as a condition of employment.
• Basic professional cooking and knife handling skills.
• Knowledge and understanding of food safety, sanitation, and proper food handling procedures.
• Ability to follow directions and work as part of a team in a high-volume environment.

Responsibilities

• Set up station(s) and ensure readiness for service.
• Prepare and cook all food items per recipes and timing.
• Maintain quality, presentation, and sanitation of dishes.
• Restock line items and maintain clean, organized work areas.
• Operate kitchen equipment safely and in good working order.
• Read menus to estimate food requirements and requisition items as needed.
