Position: Chefs/Cooks (Prep, Fry, Line cook, Grill, Salad, Sandwich)

Position Classification: Part Time

Job Description:

We are looking for dedicated and energetic cooks with exceptionally great attitudes, adept at multitasking in a high-volume fast-paced work environment, and who can maintain cordial and professional working relationships with other staff supervisors and guests. A great cook will be quick and diligent and willing to improve on the job. You will be deft and able to follow instructions as well as all health and safety rules in the kitchen.

Required Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Arrives at work on time, well-groomed in a clean uniform for every shift
  2. Demonstrates a positive attitude at all times, willing to help out where needed
  3. Follows all Walk-Ons safety, sanitation, and employee guidelines
  4. Follows day prep sheet and completes all duties assigned
  5. Sets up Sani-buckets, maintains a clean work area during the shift
  6. Follows proper food rotation, understands how to date and label all items (both prepared and unprepared)
  7. Strictly adheres to Walk-Ons recipes and procedures when preparing any food items
  8. Practices “clean as you go” techniques to avoid cross-contamination
  9. Assists and completes the daily line checklist for shift readiness
  10. Can complete requirements of job without constant supervision
  11. Able to use scale for proper portioning
  12. Calibrates bio-thermometers and scales for accurate results
  13. Follows all HACCP guidelines for heating and cooling of food products
  14. Assists in checking in, unloading, dating, rotating, and storage of all delivered products
  15. Assists other employees to complete any tasks during shift
  16. Dumps trash and cardboard from kitchen into proper receptacles in the back of the restaurant

Candidate Minimal Requirements:

  1. Must be able to read recipes and tickets in English and successfully complete testing for station certification and food safety in English.
  2. Reliable transportation to/from work
  3. Previous kitchen experience preferred.
  4. 18 years of age or older

Physical Requirements for this Position:

  1. Continuous standing, bending, lifting/carrying items (up to 60 pounds), and exposure to heat (up to 1000°F or more)
  2. Ability to read recipes, prep sheets, charts in English
  3. Understand measuring ingredients by weight and by volume
  4. Able to use ounce and pound scales for measuring
  5. Able to operate a slicer for cutting meats, cheeses, and vegetables (must be 18 years of age to operate the slicer).
  6. Able to hear and respond to calls made in the kitchen in English.
  7. Must be able to completely operate fryers, char-grill, flat top grill, and slicer and any other BOH equipment and accurately and timely prepare all food items as orders are registered.

Dress Code:

Shoes: Black, non-skid soled shoes, closed toes, rubber soles and no colored markings on the shoes with black socks.

Pants: Long black pants with a belt

Hair: Grooming is a vital part of overall appearance. Hair and fingernails must be clean, neat, and conservative. Hair needs to be restrained and placed under a red skull cap. Beard nets must be worn if facial hair.

Shirts: Walk-On’s approved BOH shirt
