Ohio CAT in Columbus, Ohio is seeking a Caterpillar Service Technician focused on welding, machining, and general mechanical work on heavy off-road equipment.

The role emphasizes welding tasks (MIG, TIG, arc, plasma cutting), reading blueprints, and teamwork in a fast-paced shop, with a strong commitment to safety.

Qualifications

What You’ll Do

• As a Caterpillar Service Technician, the welder performs welding, machining, and general mechanical duties relating to heavy off‑road equipment and component service and repair.
• The primary focus is on welding tasks, which may include general mechanical work, such as tearing down components and equipment for welding.
• Welding and fabrication, general machining, and general mechanical tasks will all be involved.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints
• Strong organizational skills
• Interpersonal skills, good communicator, team‑oriented, good customer service
• Needs to be able to work in a fast‑paced environment.
• Must have very good time management skills
• Must have a desire to approach training and education as a life‑long process.

• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem‑solving skills.
• Welding experience is required.

Physical Requirements

• Lifting/Carrying 40 lb. Lift/Carry and 50lb pulling
• Standing/Sitting Up and down stairs, standing, sitting, and climbing into machines
• Dexterity Normal
• Repetitive Motions: Frequent movement requiring hands, wrists, and fingers
• The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet in office settings and moderate to loud in other situations, with both constant and sudden loud noises possible.
