Job summary

Ohio CAT is seeking a Caterpillar Service Technician to diagnose, repair, and maintain CAT heavy equipment in our shop. You will work on dozers, excavators, wheel loaders, and haul trucks to keep machines running at peak efficiency.

The role requires a technical diploma, 3+ years in the industry, and 5 years on Caterpillar/off-road equipment; familiarity with CAT diagnostic tools ET and SIS is preferred. Occupational safety is essential.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 2-year technical program in diesel or power equipment systems.
  • At least 3 years of industry experience, with 5 years of hands-on repair on Caterpillar or similar heavy equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, repair, and maintain CAT heavy equipment in the shop.
  • Diagnose and repair Caterpillar engines, drivetrains, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
  • Inspect CAT equipment, rebuild components, ensure peak performance.
  • Service air conditioning systems and keep detailed service records.
  • Collaborate with technicians on complex Caterpillar repairs.
  • Use Caterpillar tools ET and SIS to troubleshoot issues.
  • Follow safety protocols in the shop.

What You’ll Do

As a Caterpillar Service Technician, you’ll be the go-to expert for diagnosing, repairing, and maintainingCAT heavy equipment in our shop. From dozers and excavators to wheel loaders and haul trucks, you’ll ensure every Caterpillar machine performs at peak efficiency.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Performing diagnostics and repairs onCaterpillar engines, drive-train components, electrical and hydraulic systems.
  • Inspecting and maintainingCAT equipment, rebuilding components, and ensuring optimal performance.
  • Servicing air conditioning systems, maintaining detailed service records, and collaborating with fellow technicians on complex Caterpillar repairs.
  • UsingCaterpillar diagnostic toolslike Electronic Technician (ET) and Service Information System (SIS) to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
  • Adhering to all safety protocols within the shop environment.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity withCaterpillar equipment applications, operations, and functions.
  • Skilled in usingCaterpillar diagnostic tools(ET, SIS).
  • Welding experience is a plus!

Minimum Skills and Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Completion of a technical school program (minimum 2 years) focused on diesel or power equipment systems.
  • At least 3 years of relevant industry experience, with a minimum of 5 years of hands-on mechanical repair experience onCaterpillar or similar heavy equipment.

Physical Requirements:

  • Lifting/Carrying 40 lb. Lift/Carry and 50lb pulling
  • Standing/Sitting Up and down stairs, standing, sitting, and climbing into machines
  • Dexterity Normal
  • Repetitive Motions: Frequent movement requiring hands, wrists, and fingers
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet in office settings and moderate to loud in other situations, with both constant and sudden loud noises possible.
