Job summary

CannonDesign is seeking a lighting design professional to work with multi-discipline teams across our offices, delivering creative lighting for healthcare, education and commercial clients. You will develop construction documents, coordinate with engineers and attend client meetings to advance projects.

The role requires a minimum of six years in lighting design, proficiency in Revit/AutoCAD and strong collaboration skills.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Lighting Design or related field.
Minimum of 6 years of lighting design experience.
LC/CLD or equivalent credentials preferred.
LEED AP/WELL or similar sustainability certification preferred.
Knowledge of healthcare, education and commercial spaces codes and design standards.
Strong communication and collaboration skills; able to engage clients.
Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD and relevant lighting software.
Proficiency in MS Office; familiarity with Bluebeam, Teams, Trello, Procore, and Miro.

Responsibilities

Independently develop construction documents and specs for lighting and control systems.
Design lighting solutions for healthcare, education and commercial projects.
Participate in value engineering sessions with architectural/engineering teams.
Apply energy codes and IES recommendations to designs.
Perform illuminance and LPD calculations; complete Comcheck and related documentation.
Coordinate lighting docs with trades and attend client meetings.
Identify and resolve lighting coordination items; review shop drawings.
Assist with RFIs and change orders; conduct site visits to verify conditions.
Support profitability awareness and participate in industry events.
Occasionally travel and perform overtime as needed.
