Zusammenfassung

CannonDesign is seeking a lighting designer to join our multi‑discipline teams across Chicago and Houston offices. You will design lighting and control systems for healthcare, education and commercial clients, develop construction documents, perform illuminance calculations and contribute to LEED/WELL processes.

You will collaborate with architects and engineers, attend client meetings, and travel as needed.

Qualifikationen

• Bachelor’s degree in Lighting Design, Architecture, Interior Design, Architectural Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or closely related degree.
• Minimum of 6 years of related experience performing in a lighting design role.
• LC/CLD credential, current registered member of IALD, IESNA or other professional lighting memberships preferred.
• LEED AP, WELL, or other sustainable certification preferred.
• Knowledge of building regulations and codes for healthcare, education, S&T and commercial spaces. Strong knowledge of product design and specifications.
• Must have strong communication, teamwork and collaboration and problem-solving skills as well as an ability to engage effectively with teammates and clients.
• Proficient in Revit, AutoCAD, AGI/Elumtools.
• Proficiency in graphic design and image editing software (Adobe Creative Suite).
• Knowledgeable of Sustainable Analysis and Daylighting programs (Lightstanza, Ecotect, Daysim, Comfen, DIVA for Rhino, IES VE).
• Familiarity with Energy Analysis Software (Comcheck) and code-required documentation (ex: California Title-24 Energy Compliance).
• Proficient in MS Office, Word, Excel, PPT required. Proficiency in Bluebeam, Teams, Trello, Procore + Miro preferred.

Aufgaben

• Independently develop basic to moderately complex construction documents and specifications of lighting and control systems.
• Design lighting and control systems for healthcare, education and commercial clients; analyze documents and layouts.
• Participate in value engineering sessions with Architectural/Engineering team.
• Apply knowledge of energy code, electrical and energy codes, and IES recommendations.
• Perform illuminance and lighting power density calculations and complete Comcheck/docs for rebates, LEED/WELL.
• Coordinate lighting documentation with trades; understand integrated design and deliverables.
• Attend project and client meetings to represent the lighting discipline and resolve coordination items.
• Recommend improvements with reference standards to improve quality and streamline production.
• Review and mark up shop drawings and submittals.
• Respond to RFIs and review change orders for construction documents.
• Conduct job site visits to verify conditions; site visits may require on-site walking.
• Understand profitability metrics and participate in industry events; travel as needed.
