Job summary

OceanaGold is seeking a Maintenance Technician to keep equipment available by inspecting and testing vehicles, performing preventive maintenance, and replacing parts as needed at our site.

The role requires trade qualifications and several years of experience in automotive maintenance; you will document service records, support operations, and help ensure a safe, efficient mining environment.

Qualifications

• Tertiary trade qualification required.
• 5 years plus maintenance experience preferred in a light vehicle context.
• Experience in an automotive dealership setting would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and test vehicles, perform preventive maintenance (engine tune-ups, oil changes, tire rotation), and replace components as needed.
• Repair engine and mechanical/electrical systems malfunctions; replace parts and body damage as required.
• Verify serviceability through test drives and adjustments; maintain vehicle records of service and repairs.

Job Description

• This position aims to keepequipment available for use by inspecting and testing vehicles, completing preventive maintenance such as, engine tune-ups, oil changes, tire rotation and changes, wheel balancing, replacing filters.
• Maintains vehicle functional condition by listening to operator complaints; conducting inspections; repairing engine failures; repairing mechanical and electrical systems malfunctions; replacing parts and components; repairing body damage.
• Verifies vehicle serviceability by conducting test drives, adjusting controls and systems.
• Maintains vehicle records by recording service and repairs.
• Keeps shop equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.
• Contains costs by using warranty, evaluating service and parts options.
• Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications.
• Accomplishes maintenance and organization mission by completing related results as needed.

Qualifications

• Appropriate Tertiary Trade qualifications and 2 years’ experience within an Automotive dealership setting.
• 5 years plus maintenance experience with Light Vehicle Maintenance preferred.
• Previous experience in an Auto Mechanics role would be advantageous.

Additional Information

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to work in both office and operational mining environments.
• Ability to regularly access active mining and processing areas to support operational teams, conduct site visits, investigations, coaching, and workforce engagement activities.
• Ability to walk on uneven terrain, climb stairs and access elevated work areas as required.
• Ability to wear and use mandatory personal protective equipment (PPE).
