Job summary

OceanaGold is seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician to keep Haile Mine equipment available by performing preventive maintenance, inspections, and timely repairs. The role involves test drives, record-keeping, and cost-conscious maintenance in a mining environment.

The ideal candidate brings tertiary trade qualifications and several years of automotive maintenance experience, preferably in a dealership or heavy equipment setting, with a strong safety mindset and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Appropriate tertiary trade qualifications required.
• 2 years’ experience within an automotive dealership setting preferred.
• 5 years plus maintenance experience with light vehicles preferred.

Responsibilities

• Keep equipment available by inspecting and testing vehicles, performing preventive maintenance such as engine tune-ups, oil changes, tire rotation and changes, wheel balancing, replacing filters.
• Maintain vehicle condition by addressing operator complaints, inspecting, repairing engine failures, repairing mechanical and electrical systems, replacing parts and body damage.
• Verify vehicle serviceability by test drives and adjusting controls/systems.
• Maintain vehicle records by recording service and repairs.
• Keep shop equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting, maintaining supplies, performing preventive maintenance, and arranging repairs.
• Contain costs by using warranties and evaluating service/parts options.
• Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading technical publications.
• Contribute to maintenance/organization goals by completing related tasks as needed.

Job Description

• This position aims to keepequipment available for use by inspecting and testing vehicles, completing preventive maintenance such as, engine tune-ups, oil changes, tire rotation and changes, wheel balancing, replacing filters.

Qualifications

• Appropriate Tertiary Trade qualifications and 2 years’ experience within an Automotive dealership setting.
• 5 years plus maintenance experience with Light Vehicle Maintenance preferred.
• Previous experience in an Auto Mechanics role would be advantageous.

Additional Information

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to work in both office and operational mining environments.
• Ability to regularly access active mining and processing areas to support operational teams, conduct site visits, investigations, coaching, and workforce engagement activities.
• Ability to walk on uneven terrain, climb stairs and access elevated work areas as required.
• Ability to wear and use mandatory personal protective equipment (PPE).
