Job summary

OceanaGold is seeking a Maintenance Technician to keep equipment available by inspecting and testing vehicles, performing preventive maintenance, and repairing mechanical and electrical systems.

The ideal candidate holds a tertiary trade qualification with 2 years in an automotive dealership and 5+ years in vehicle maintenance; previous auto mechanics experience is advantageous. The role is based on-site at our mining operation with a competitive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Appropriate Tertiary Trade qualifications and 2 years’ experience within an Automotive dealership setting.
• 5 years plus maintenance experience with Light Vehicle Maintenance preferred.
• Previous experience in an Auto Mechanics role would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Keeps equipment available by inspecting and testing vehicles, completing preventive maintenance such as engine tune-ups, oil changes, tire rotation and changes, wheel balancing, replacing filters.
• Maintains vehicle functional condition by listening to operator complaints; conducting inspections; repairing engine failures; repairing mechanical and electrical systems malfunctions; replacing parts and components; repairing body damage.
• Verifies vehicle serviceability by conducting test drives, adjusting controls and systems.
• Maintains vehicle records by recording service and repairs.
• Keeps shop equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.
• Contains costs by using warranty, evaluating service and parts options.
• Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications.
• Accomplishes maintenance and organization mission by completing related results as needed.
