Job summary

Sedgwick County is seeking a Light Equipment Mechanic II to maintain and repair county vehicles and light equipment, including Sheriff pursuit vehicles and EMS ambulances. You will perform routine maintenance, oil changes, brake and tire inspections, and diagnose mechanical and electrical issues.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent and at least two years of oil changes, tire and brake inspection experience, plus a valid driver's license and insurance.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Two years’ experience performing oil changes, tire inspections, and brake inspections.
  • Valid US driver’s license without restrictions and proof of automobile insurance.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance on light county vehicles and EMS vehicles.
  • Perform basic service work including oil changes, brake and tire inspections.
  • Run diagnostic inspections and drivability checks on vehicles and ambulances.
  • Be available for on-call duty on assigned weekends.
  • Install new technology in vehicles and upgrade sheriff/EMS equipment.
  • Decommission retired vehicles for auction.
