Job summary

Unified Government of Wyandotte County seeks a skilled Fleet Maintenance Technician II to maintain and repair a diverse fleet of vehicles and equipment. The role requires hands-on problem solving and expertise in gasoline and diesel engines, transmissions, suspensions and hydraulic systems.

Responsibilities include diagnostic work, major repairs, welding, on-site emergency service, and adherence to safety protocols to keep the fleet safe and available for the community.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED plus repair experience; any equivalent combination accepted.
• ASE certification preferred but not mandatory.
• CDL Class B with airbrake endorsement within six months; KS driver's license required.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance and major repairs on gasoline and diesel engines, transmissions, brakes, suspensions and hydraulic systems.
• Conduct chassis and suspension repairs, alignments, tire inspections and air conditioning service.
• Weld and fabricate as needed and provide on-site emergency road service when required.
• Assist other technicians with complex repairs and ensure safety protocols are followed.
