Job summary

Park County Government invites applications for a Fleet Mechanic III to maintain and repair county vehicles and equipment in Public Works shops and in the field. You will diagnose issues, perform preventive maintenance, and ensure compliance with DOT standards.

This role requires a broad skill set in diesel, hydraulic, electrical and mechanical systems, welding, and fabrication, with emphasis on safe, high-quality work and the ability to work independently or with others.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Vocational mechanic program preferred or two years’ experience in automotive/heavy equipment.
• Ten years’ experience in automotive and heavy equipment is desired or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance including oil/filter changes, lube services, tire work and related technical tasks.
• Inspect and repair vehicles to meet Public Works and DOT standards and regulations.
• Document time, hours, miles, parts used and repairs for proper records.
• Repair, rebuild or replace components on diverse county equipment and specialty gear.
• Operate vehicles to troubleshoot and verify repairs; weld and fabricate parts as needed.
• Assist in field service during emergencies and maintain safe work practices.
