Job summary

Park County Government is seeking a Fleet Mechanic II to perform highly skilled mechanical repair and diagnostic work on Park County vehicles and equipment in Public Works shops and in the field.

Essential duties include preventative maintenance, diagnostics, welding, fabrication, and field service in emergencies. A Class B CDL is required; Class A CDL may be needed to reach 50% of the pay range. Safety and quality are emphasized in this role.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Vocational/mechanic training or two years’ experience in automotive/truck/heavy equipment.
• Five years’ experience in the automotive and heavy equipment industry is desired.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance including oil changes, filters, tires, and lube services.
• Repair and diagnose a wide range of county vehicles and equipment.
• Document time, hours, parts used, and repairs; report to proper personnel.
• Provide field service in emergency situations.
• Operate and test vehicles/equipment to verify repairs.
• Welding and fabrication as needed; design parts/tools for assignments.
• Maintain shop cleanliness and safety; assist Mechanic I as needed.
