Job summary

The W. Dale Brougher Foundation YMCA in Shrewsbury, PA is seeking a part-time Lifeguard to help maintain a safe, welcoming aquatic environment for members and guests. You will monitor the pool, enforce rules, and respond to emergencies with calm professionalism.

Join a team focused on safety and service, attend trainings, and work flexible shifts including mornings and weekends. This role offers opportunities to build lifesaving skills while supporting the YMCA community.

Qualifications

• Current American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification is required.
• Current CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and First Aid certifications are required.
• Background checks and clearances are required (PA State Police, FBI fingerprint, and Child Abuse clearance).

Responsibilities

• Maintain continuous surveillance of the pool area to ensure safety.
• Respond quickly to emergencies following YMCA lifeguarding procedures.
• Enforce pool policies with professionalism and courtesy.
• Communicate clearly with members, guests, and staff in a busy aquatic environment.
• Complete opening and closing procedures, facility checks, and required documentation.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe pool deck.
• Assist with smooth shift transitions by communicating updates to incoming staff.
• Attend required trainings, meetings, and certification renewals.

Essential Responsibilities

• Maintain continuous surveillance of the pool area to ensure the safety of all participants.
• Respond quickly and effectively to emergencies following YMCA and established lifeguarding procedures.

• Ability to work flexible schedules, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and seasonal shifts.
