Job summary

The YMCA of Metropolitan Atlanta is hiring a Lifeguard to maintain a safe pool environment and promote healthy living and youth development. You'll support active surveillance, enforce safety rules, and respond to emergencies in accordance with YMCA policies.

This position requires current Lifeguard certification, BLS/CPR, First Aid, and emergency oxygen administration training, as well as the ability to stay alert and communicate effectively. Work is performed at the Carl E.

Qualifications

• Current Lifeguard Certification required.
• Basic life support (BLS) or professional rescuer CPR/AED, first aid, and emergency oxygen administration.
• Ability to maintain certification-level physical and mental readiness.
• Must demonstrate lifeguard skills in accordance with YMCA standards.

Responsibilities

• Support the lifeguard in maintaining active surveillance of the pool area.
• Know and review all emergency procedures and respond to emergencies immediately in accordance with YMCA policies; complete related reports as required.
• Know, understand, and consistently support safety rules, policies, and guidelines for the pool and aquatic area.
• Remain calm and objective under pressure or when challenged by others.
• Maintain accurate records as required by the YMCA and/or the state health department code.
• Support equipment checks and ensure appropriate equipment is available as needed.
• Check the pool for hazardous conditions when arriving.
• Perform chemical testing when not guarding, and take appropriate action.
