Job summary

The YMCA of Metropolitan Atlanta is seeking a Lifeguard for the Robert D. Fowler Family YMCA to help maintain a safe swimming environment and enforce pool safety policies. You will monitor the pool, respond to emergencies, and support facility safety under YMCA guidelines.

Qualifications

• Minimum age of 15.
• Certifications include Basic life support or professional rescuer CPR/AED, first aid, and emergency oxygen administration.
• Current Lifeguard Certification required.
• Additional trainings may be assigned within first week of work.
• Maintain certification-level physical and mental readiness.
• Demonstrate lifeguard skills per YMCA standards.

Responsibilities

• Support lifeguard in maintaining active surveillance of the pool area.
• Review and respond to emergencies per YMCA policies; complete required reports.
• Enforce safety rules and guidelines for pool and aquatic area.
• Maintain calm and objective demeanor under pressure.
• Keep accurate records as required by YMCA and state health codes.
• Assist with equipment checks and ensure appropriate equipment is available.
• Check pool for hazards on arrival.
• Perform chemical testing as needed and take appropriate action.
