Job summary

YMCA of Metropolitan Atlanta is seeking a Lifeguard II to assist the Aquatic Director in supervising the pool area. This experienced YMCA staff member reinforces safety, policy, and positive service, while supporting the aquatic programs.

You will help with guard placement, open/close duties, and incident response, and participate in monthly trainings. Must have current YMCA Lifeguard Certification, CPR/AED/First Aid and be 18+ with 2 years lifeguarding.

Qualifications

Minimum age 18.
Minimum 2 years lifeguarding experience.
Current YMCA Lifeguard Certification, CPR, AED and First Aid.
YMCA Leader Certificate within 90 days.
Physically capable of lifeguard skills.
Hear noises and distress signals in the aquatic environment and observe zone.
Ability to work with diverse populations.

Responsibilities

Maintains a safe aquatic area and provides real time feedback to staff.
Coordinates lifeguard placement and rotations.
May open/close pools, support in pool chemistry, and assist the Aquatic Director.
May act as a lifeguard during shift and model standards for others.
Serves as first level contact and documents incidents.
Provides quality customer service to members and participants.
Assists with in-service trainings.
Attends monthly in-service trainings.
