Job summary

The YMCA of Metropolitan Atlanta is seeking a Lifeguard at Summit Family YMCA to maintain safe swimming conditions and respond quickly to emergencies. You will monitor the pool, enforce safety rules, perform equipment checks, and assist with guest services to ensure a welcoming environment for all ages.

Requirements include minimum age 16, CPR/AED and First Aid certifications, and the ability to pass background checks.

Qualifications

• Minimum age 16.
• CPR/AED, First Aid, and emergency oxygen administration certifications.
• Current YMCA Lifeguard certification or equivalent (if not YMCA must be crossed over in first 60 days).
• Ability to respond promptly to safety and emergency situations.
• Exemplify YMCA values and leadership qualities.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintains active surveillance of the pool area.
• Reviews emergency procedures and responds to emergencies per YMCA policies.
• Applies safety rules for pool and aquatic areas.
• Keeps accurate records as required by YMCA and health departments.
• Performs equipment checks and ensures necessary equipment is available.
• Performs chemical testing when not guarding and takes appropriate action.
• Maintains branch and association certifications (CPR-O, Lifeguard, First Aid, etc.).
• Assists in all aspects of the YMCA and its community.
• Attends staff meetings and in-service trainings.
• Shows up 15 minutes prior to shift start time.
• Wears YMCA lifeguard uniform and gear.
