Job summary

YMCA of Greater Houston seeks a part-time Lifeguard/Swim Instructor to lead safety-first classes under the Aquatics Director. You will deliver BLS, first aid, oxygen training and YMCA lifeguard instruction, while preparing materials and tracking student progress.

You’ll coach, test, and certify participants, maintain records, and uphold safety standards. Requires lifeguard competence, diverse-group communication, and up-to-date certifications.

Qualifications

• Minimum age of 16 years.
• Must obtain YMCA Swim Lesson Instructor Certification per YMCA standards.
• AS HI certification required prior to first shift.
• Ability to maintain certifications as required.
• Lifeguard skills per YMCA standards.
• Ability to relate to diverse groups.
• Ability to pass lifeguard water test.

Responsibilities

• Deliver ASHI BLS, Basic First Aid, Emergency Oxygen and YMCA Lifeguard training.
• Maintain training materials and prepare class supplies.
• Ensure e-learnings are sent and monitor progress; issue certifications.
• Provide coaching and feedback to students.
• Validate and test students' skills; provide corrections.
