Brief Job Description

Under general supervision, the Lifeguard's primary responsibilities include guarding the pool, ensuring patron safety, enforcing pool rules, maintaining cleanliness, and implementing emergency protocols. This role also involves administering aquatic programs such as swim lessons, coaching the youth swim team, supervising group activities, and assisting with other aquatic events.

Responsibilities

• Guard the pool and supervise patrons in accordance with health regulations.
• Prevent emergencies through continuous scanning and perform rescues when needed.
• Develop and implement aquatic programs like swimming lessons, youth swim team, water aerobics, and more.
• Maintain accurate records and ensure sanitary conditions around the pool and facilities.
• Ensure the pool meets health and safety standards, including chemical balance and water quality.
• Follow uniform and safety regulations as required.
• Attend all required training sessions.
• Perform lifeguard surveillance and ensure coverage during pool hours.
• Enforce pool rules to prevent emergencies and ensure safety.
• Perform related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Current Lifeguard Training Certification (including First Aid and CPR/AED).
• Certified Water Safety Instructor (WSI), with current certification.
• Knowledge of pool health and safety standards or willingness to learn.
• Flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
• Must be 18 years or older.
• Good judgment, attention to detail, and ability to multitask under pressure.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suites preferred.
• Ability to work effectively in diverse, team-oriented environments.

Note: C.O.R.I. & S.O.R.I. checks are required. This position has a waiver from the Boston Residency Ordinance until January 4, 2027.
