Job Summary

The Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Services seeks qualified individuals for full-time Lifeguard roles at our recreation centers, which feature pools, water slides, play areas, and hot tubs. Responsibilities include record maintenance and staff orientation. Ideal candidates possess organizational skills, patience, and strong communication abilities.

Locations include:

• Ashburn Recreation & Community Center, Ashburn, VA
• Dulles South Recreation & Community Center, South Riding, VA

Responsibilities

1. Perform custodial and maintenance tasks to ensure safety and cleanliness of the aquatic facilities, and assist with special events.
2. Enforce pool rules and regulations.
3. Assist with clerical duties using scheduling software and maintain aquatic records.
4. Provide excellent customer service.
5. Assist distressed individuals with rescue techniques, alert emergency services, and provide emergency care as needed.
6. Perform other essential duties as required.
7. Work schedule includes early mornings, evenings, and weekends, offering flexibility.

Minimum Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications

1. At least one year of supervisory experience.
2. Lifeguarding Instructor, AED, and Supplemental Oxygen certifications preferred.
3. Water Safety Instructor certification and memberships in relevant professional organizations.
4. One year of aquatic experience, including programming and pool management, with the public and organizations.

Job Contingencies and Requirements

Must pass criminal background and credit checks. Must hold Red Cross Lifeguard Certification, including First Aid and CPR, prior to employment.
