The YMCA of Metropolitan Atlanta is hiring a Lifeguard at the J.M. Tull Gwinnett Family YMCA in Georgia. The role focuses on maintaining safe swimming conditions, surveillance, and enforcing safety rules in accordance with YMCA policies.

Requirements include minimum age 16, CPR/AED, first aid, oxygen administration certifications, and current or equivalent YMCA Lifeguard certification. Strong communication and customer service are essential to support the community and youth programs.

Qualifications

• Certifications: Basic life support or professional rescuer CPR/AED, first aid, and emergency oxygen administration.
• Current YMCA Lifeguard certification or equivalent (If not YMCA MUST be crossed over in first 60 days).
• Ability to respond in a timely manner to safety and emergency situations.
• Exemplify YMCA ideals and leadership qualities.

Responsabilités

• Maintains active surveillance of the pool area.
• Reviews emergency procedures and responds to emergencies per YMCA policy.
• Applies pool and aquatic safety rules and guidelines consistently.
• Maintains records as required by YMCA and health codes.
• Performs equipment checks and ensures availability of needed gear.
• Performs chemical testing when not guarding and takes appropriate action.
• Maintains branch and association certifications (CPR-O, Lifeguard, First Aid, etc.).
• Attends staff meetings and in-service trainings.
• Arrives 15 minutes before shift start time.
• Wears YMCA lifeguard uniform and required gear.
