Job description

Join to apply for the Lifeguard-Emerson YMCA role at Gateway Region YMCA.

Responsibilities include:

1. Maintaining active surveillance of the pool area.
2. Reviewing all emergency procedures and responding immediately in accordance with YMCA policies and the 'safe-in-six' model; completing related reports.
3. Responding to challenges with possible solutions promptly.
4. Applying safety rules, policies, and guidelines for the pool and aquatic area consistently.
5. Remaining calm and objective under pressure or when challenged.
6. Maintaining accurate records as required by YMCA and health department codes.
7. Performing equipment checks and ensuring availability of appropriate equipment.
8. Checking for hazardous conditions upon arriving at the pool.
9. Performing chemical testing when not guarding and taking appropriate action.

Minimum requirements:

1. Must be a certified lifeguard.
2. Must be at least 15 years old.
3. Ability to maintain certification-level physical and mental readiness.
4. Demonstrate lifeguard skills in accordance with YMCA standards.
