Job description

Lifeguard - Sparta Pool (Security)

The Lifeguard maintains active surveillance of the pool area, ensuring safety for all patrons. Key responsibilities include:

1. Review and follow all emergency procedures, responding immediately to emergencies in accordance with YMCA policies, procedures, and the safe-in-six model; complete related reports as required.
2. Respond promptly to challenges, offering possible solutions in a timely manner.
3. Understand and apply safety rules, policies, and guidelines for the pool and aquatic area consistently.
4. Remain calm and objective under pressure or when challenged by others.
5. Maintain accurate records as required by the YMCA and state health department code.
6. Perform equipment checks and ensure necessary equipment is available.
7. Inspect the pool for hazardous conditions upon arrival.
8. Conduct chemical testing when not guarding and take appropriate action as needed.
