Job description

Lifeguard - New Baden Legion Memorial Swimming Pool (Security)

1. Maintain active surveillance of the pool area.
2. Review and understand all emergency procedures, responding immediately to emergencies in accordance with YMCA policies, procedures, and the safe-in-six model; complete related reports as required.
3. Respond promptly to challenges, offering possible solutions.
4. Understand and consistently apply safety rules, policies, and guidelines for the pool and aquatic area.
5. Remain calm and objective under pressure or when challenged by others.
6. Maintain accurate records as required by the YMCA and/or the state health department code.
7. Perform equipment checks and ensure the availability of appropriate equipment as needed.
8. Check the pool for hazardous conditions upon arrival.
9. Perform chemical testing when not actively guarding and take appropriate actions based on the results.
