Job summary

The Summit Bechtel Reserve in Glen Jean, WV, is seeking staff to lead aquatics-based programs for guests and youth. You will supervise a team, teach merit badges and lessons to groups, handle paperwork, and ensure safety and quality of experiences during activity sessions.

Ideal candidates are 18+, hold a lifeguard cert, and have 1+ year of team leadership. Microsoft Teams proficiency and willingness to join Scouting America are required.

Qualifications

• Must be 18+ and eligible to work.
• Current lifeguard certification (Red Cross or equivalent).
• At least 1 year of leading teams; training experience preferred.
• Willing to become a registered Scouting America member (background screening).
• Comfort using Microsoft Teams for daily work communication.

Responsibilities

• Lead department staff including scheduling and training.
• Teach aquatics merit badges and lessons to groups of 2-24 youth.
• Submit advancement paperwork to supervisor promptly.
• Assist with setup, maintenance, and takedown of program areas.
• Provide First Aid as needed.
• Model the Scout Oath and Law in daily interactions.
• Maintain a clean, organized, safe work area.
• Perform additional duties assigned by SBR leadership.
• Abide by staff handbook policies and procedures.
