Job summary

Summit Bechtel Reserve in West Virginia seeks staff to guide Summit Experience participants and provide front-line orientation, guidance, and guest service to Scouts and Scouters. You will become an expert on the Summit program and properties while supporting camp activities.

You will model the Scout Oath and Law, help youth develop teamwork, and work a structured schedule within staff housing. This is a dynamic on-site position at a premier high-adventure base.

Qualifications

• Excellent interpersonal communication, relationship-building, and problem-solving skills.
• Scouting and/or camping experience strongly preferred.
• Willing to become a registered Scouting America member (includes background screening).
• Comfortable using Microsoft Teams for daily work-related communication.

Responsibilities

• Guide Summit Experience guests throughout the onsite high-adventure program for groups of Scouts and Scouters.
• Act as liaison between guests and Summit staff in various programs.
• Become an expert on the Summit program and property.
• Provide guidance and coaching to youth for constructive development and positive experiences.
• Participate in camp-wide programs and activities (campfires, evening programs).
• Promote the patrol method and the aims and methods of Scouting.
• Model the Scout Oath and Law in daily interactions.
• Maintain a clean, organized, inspected, neat, and safe work area.
• Perform additional duties assigned by SBR leadership.
• Abide by policies and procedures outlined in the SBR staff handbook.
