Job summary

The Summit Bechtel Reserve in West Virginia seeks a qualified leader to supervise the Summit Experience team, ensuring a safe, memorable experience for Scouts and Scouters. You will guide staff, manage feedback, and contribute to annual reports while modeling Scout values.

You will oversee camp activities, uphold safety standards, and participate in a dynamic outdoor program. This is a chance to lead in a premier High Adventure setting and to develop leadership and teamwork skills.

Qualifications

• Minimum age 21+
• Valid driver license and ability to obtain driving permit
• Experience in Scouting and/or outdoor recreation
• National Camping School Resident Camp/Program Director card (training provided)

Responsibilities

• Directly supervise, coach, and counsel the Summit Experience team to ensure guests have a safe and fun experience
• Communicate with guests and staff to ensure quality experience and implement adjustments based on feedback
• Provide formal and informal feedback to Summit Experience staff (performance evaluations)
• Write end-of-season report, including inventories, recommendations, and department improvements
• Provide leadership to and participate in camp-wide activities (campfires, ceremonies, etc.)
• Model the Scout Oath and Law in daily interactions
• Maintain a clean, organized, inspected, neat, and safe work area
• Perform additional duties assigned by SBR leadership
• Abide by policies and procedures outlined in the SBR staff handbook
