Job summary

FBT Gibbons LLP is seeking a Business Development Manager to collaborate with Practice Groups and firm leadership to craft and execute business development strategies that drive revenue for the Life Sciences Industry team and related practices, including IP and DDAT.

The role blends strategic planning with hands‑on execution, budget oversight, and performance tracking to ensure initiatives align with firm priorities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; degree in marketing, communications, business or related field preferred.
• Minimum of five years’ experience in a B2B, professional services or legal setting.
• Experience in life sciences industry preferred.
• Strong strategic planning and development skills.
• Excellent organizational and project management abilities.
• Proven leadership skills and ability to think critically.
• Self-starter with initiative and high energy.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills.
• Excellent influential and collaboration abilities.
• Ability to travel across the firm’s national footprint; some overnight travel required.

Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio that includes the Life Sciences Industry Team, associated practice groups including IP and DDAT, and key clients teams; make independent decisions on BD priorities, resource allocation and tactics after consulting with leaders.
• Work closely with the BDD and CBDO on strategic firm initiatives and serve as a delegate for leadership functions when needed.
• Collaborate with Directors of Practice Services and Department Chairs on performance and launching new service offerings.
• Drive and/or oversee support for Industry Team and Practice Group pursuits.
• Create and implement BD strategies; identify key clients, engage clients, cross‑serve and pursue opportunities; develop proposals and presentations; coach individuals and provide lateral support; capture feedback; lead marketing and thought leadership efforts.
