Job summary

PEAK Technical Services Inc. is seeking a Junior LiDAR Analyst in Lafayette, LA to support processing, classification, quality control, and package large LiDAR datasets.

You will work under senior analysts to ensure deliverables meet project specs and client requirements, gaining exposure to NOAA/USGS standards and geospatial workflows. The role focuses on routine point cloud tasks, data validation, and QA/QC activities, with opportunities to learn automated workflows and data management across

Qualifications

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Geomatics, GIS, Remote Sensing, Geography or related field.
• Equivalent professional experience may be considered.
• Basic understanding of LiDAR technology and point cloud datasets.
• Familiarity with GIS concepts, coordinate systems, and spatial data management.
• Exposure to TerraScan/TerraSolid, LP360, ArcGIS Pro, Global Mapper, and QGIS.
• Understanding of LAS/LAZ file formats is preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow documented production procedures.

Responsibilities

• Perform production-based processing of airborne LiDAR datasets using established workflows.
• Support point cloud classification activities including ground, vegetation, building, water, bridge, and noise classification.
• Apply automated classification routines and perform manual corrections where needed.
• Assist in identifying and correcting classification errors within assigned production areas.
• Ensure datasets meet completeness and coverage standards before advancing.
