The New York State Department of Motor Vehicles seeks staff to provide substantial in-person or phone assistance on licenses, registrations, IDs, tests, penalties, hearings, and related programs. You will operate multiple computer applications and handle customer payments and related inventories.

Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED and either one year of customer service experience or 30 college credits. This role supports NY HELPS and related eligibility provisions.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required and either one year of customer service experience or 30 college credits.
• Ability to handle multiple applications and systems concurrently.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills required for public interaction.

Responsibilities

• Provide substantial in-person or telephone contact with the public seeking services or information on licenses, registrations, IDs, testing, insurance, penalties, hearings, and related DMV programs.
• Effectively use a computer with multiple applications running simultaneously.
• Process customer payments (cash, checks, credit cards) and manage inventories of documents and security items.
