Job summary

King County is seeking a Licensing Specialist (Customer Service Specialist III) to join the Records and Licensing Services Division for a 6-month term-limited temporary assignment. You will guide customers on licensing needs, process payments, and ensure accuracy in data entry.

The role is onsite at the King County Customer Service Center, Monday–Friday, 40 hours. Strong Excel skills and customer service excellence are essential.

Qualifications

  • Ability to interpret, apply, and follow rules, regulations, codes, laws, policies, procedures, and ordinances.
  • Comfort with change and continuous improvement in daily work.
  • Intermediate or higher level of expertise with Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and accurate cash handling skills.
  • Ability to coordinate a high volume of diverse assignments and multiple priorities with strong attention to detail and follow-up.
  • Passion for serving King County's diverse community.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills to effectively engage with a wide audience.

Responsibilities

  • Provide accurate guidance on the phone, in person, and by mail for licensing, titling, and related services.
  • Perform production-level data entry and administrative tasks using Word and Excel.
  • Review documents for state requirements and ensure information is complete and accurate.
  • Provide information about licensing policies, procedures, codes, and regulations for vehicles, vessels, and related licenses.
  • Solve problems with limited guidance while delivering exceptional customer service.
  • Obtain, monitor, and organize data from files, records, or computer systems with high detail.
  • Process payments, verify data, and balance daily cash per county/state procedures.
  • Contribute innovative ideas and a can-do attitude to the Licensing team.
