Job summary

Petco in the United States is seeking a Veterinary Technician to join our Vetco Total Care full-service hospital team, delivering excellent patient care and outstanding client service.

You will assist veterinarians with routine and emergency care, perform examinations, restrain patients, handle specimens, and maintain accurate medical records. A Credentialed Veterinary Technician with at least 1 year of experience, strong communication and teamwork is required.

Qualifications

• Credentialed Veterinary Technician with valid state credentials.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in a veterinary practice.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; strong teamwork and compassion.

Responsibilities

• Greet clients and patients arriving for appointments; record vital signs and intake information.
• Assist veterinarians with routine and emergency procedures, including surgery and dentistry.
• Perform patient restraint, collect laboratory samples, dispense medications as directed, and maintain medical records.
• Schedule appointments; educate clients; manage client/patient records and accounts receivable.
• Prepare patients for procedures; monitor anesthesia; discharge or transfer as needed.
• Provide in-hospital treatments and post-care, keep patients clean and nourished.
• Participate in training of new staff and maintain a clean hospital environment.
• Operate within Vetco Total Care hospital protocols and support the team.
