Job summary

Petco is hiring a Veterinary Technician to provide high-quality care for Vetco Total Care patients and exceptional service to pet owners. The role includes assisting veterinarians, managing patient records in the EMR, and contributing to a collaborative hospital team.

Candidates should have Credentialed Veterinary Technician credentials, at least 1 year of veterinary experience, and strong communication and teamwork skills.

Qualifications

• Must have at least 1 year of experience as a Veterinary Technician or in a veterinary practice.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
• Must be compassionate and sympathetic with patients and clients.
• Must have telephone and computer skills.
• Must be a team player willing to learn and adapt to hospital routines.

Responsibilities

• Greet clients and patients, record vitals, and begin the medical record in the EMR.
• Assist veterinarians with appointments, surgery, dentistry, and euthanasia under supervision.
• Perform patient restraint and collect samples as directed by the veterinarian.
• Schedule appointments, educate clients, and update inventory and records.
• Prepare patients for procedures and monitor anesthesia parameters.
• Provide in-hospital treatments and manage medications as directed.
• Train new staff and share knowledge with the team.
• Maintain a clean, organized hospital environment and comply with safety protocols.
