Job summary

The ASPCA Community Medicine team seeks a Licensed Veterinary Technician to join a high-volume clinic in New York. You will work closely with veterinarians and staff to provide spay/neuter services, preventive care, and minor treatments for cats, dogs, and rescue animals.

Must hold a NYS Veterinary Technician License or obtain within 30 days of employment. Strong animal handling and customer service skills are essential for this on-site role in NYC.

Qualifications

• Must have graduated from an accredited school of veterinary science technology (2 or 4 year program) or equivalent as determined by NYS Education Department.
• Must have current New York State Veterinary Technician License (or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment).
• Excellent animal handling skills (cats, dogs) and customer service abilities.

Responsibilities

• Care for 35-40 cats and dogs per day in spay/neuter surgery.
• Administer injections including anesthetics, pain medications, vaccinations; monitor patients.
• Intubate animals, place IV catheters, perform venipuncture and administer fluids as needed.
• Monitor vital signs in pre-, intra-, and post-operative phases.
• Provide treatments per CM SOPs and under Veterinarian direction.
• Maintain controlled substance logs and patient records.
