Job summary

HDR, Inc. seeks a Highway/Roads Engineer in Rapid City, SD to shape urban and rural roadway projects. You’ll work under a Project Manager, oversee CAD Designers, and prepare detailed designs for transportation infrastructure.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree, a PE license, 3+ years in roadway design, and proficiency in Bentley and Autodesk road design tools. Strong communication and project-management skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field.
• Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license recognized by the licensing board.
• 3+ years in roadway engineering design.
• Hands-on experience with Highways CAD software (Bentley ConceptStation, Open Roads Designer, and/or Autodesk InfraWorks/Civil3D).
• Proficient in MS Office and strong communication.
• Experience with urban and rural highway interchanges, traffic management, and design layouts.

Responsibilities

• Serve in a technical role under the direction of a Project Manager on roadway project design.
• Oversee the work of CAD Designers, and possibly other EITs.
• Prepare detailed engineering designs for roadway projects.
• Participate in activities from site feasibility to final design and through construction.
• Possibly assume project management duties and interact with clients as needed.
• Perform other duties as needed.
