Job summary

Caretenders Home Health, part of LHC Group and UnitedHealth Group, seeks a Physical Therapist Assistant to provide treatment and education to patients in home care in line with the plan of care.

The role involves guiding patients through therapeutic exercises, following state laws, and coordinating with supervising PT and the healthcare team. Strong patient communication and mobility assistance are essential.

Qualifications

• Current, licensed, registered, or certified to assist in the practice of physical therapy in state of practice.
• Current driver's license and vehicle insurance, access to a dependable vehicle, or public transportation.
• Available to work a weekend rotation.
• Current CPR certification or ability to complete within 90 days of hire.
• Ability to perform physical tasks required for patient care, including lifting, transferring, and assisting with mobility.

Responsibilities

• Following all state-specific laws governing provision of physical therapy in home care, following treatment set by supervising PT.
• Instructs and aids patients in active and passive exercise, muscle re-education, gait, functional, ADL, transfer, safety, and prosthetic training.
• Observes, records, and reports patient responses to treatment to supervising PT and health care team.
• Instructs patient, family, caregiver, and health care team in therapy within PT scope.
• Functioning in home situations regardless of age, race, creed, color, sex, disability, or financial condition.
