Job summary

Health Advocates Network in San Luis Obispo, CA is seeking a Licensed Psychiatric Technician for a 13-week contract. Shift is Wed–Sun, 6:00 am to 2:30 pm. You will provide basic nursing care, monitor patient condition, assist with daily living activities, administer medications, and support therapy sessions.

Requires CA license, at least 1 year as a Licensed Psychiatric Technician, and current PSV if required. Benefits include competitive pay, travel stipends, and CEU opportunities.

Qualifications

• Current, valid California license/certification in good standing, as required for the position.
• Minimum of 1 year of recent experience as a Licensed Psychiatric Technician.
• Copy of PSV from the licensing board or verification agency if required.
• Copy of current required certifications (e.g., BLS, N95 fit test, immunization records, TB test).

Responsibilities

• Provide basic nursing care to patients with mental health conditions.
• Monitor patient behavior, mood, and vital signs.
• Assist with activities of daily living (hygiene, meals, mobility).
• Administer medications as directed and within scope of practice.
• Support patients during therapy and treatment activities.
• Report changes in patient condition to nurses or physicians.
• Maintain patient safety and prevent self-harm or injury.
• Document patient care and observations.
• Assist in crisis intervention and de-escalation.
• Follow treatment plans and facility protocols.

Licensed Psychiatric Technician Duties & Responsibilities

Minimum Qualifications

• Current, valid, and unrestrictedCA license/certification in good standing, as required for the position.


• Minimum of 1 yearof recent experience as a Licensed Psychiatric Technician.


• Copy of current, completed Primary Source Verification (PSV) from the appropriate licensing board or verification agency, if required.


• Copy of all current required certifications and compliance documents (e.g., .BLS, N95 fit test, immunization records, TB test, or other client-specific requirements).
