AvaMed Workforce is a Healthcare Staffing Agency that staffs all of California State Correctional Facilities. We have an urgent need for a Licensed Psychiatric Technician to take on a full‑time assignment at the correctional facility located in San Diego, CA.
Position Details
- 40 hours per week
- Location: San Diego, CA
- Schedule: Monday‑Friday 2:00‑10:30 pm (various shifts available)
- Rate: $52 per hour ($2,080 per week)
- Status: Traveler
Qualifications
- Valid license from the California Board of Vocational Nursing and Psychiatric Technician
- At least one full year of experience as a Licensed Psychiatric Technician
Responsibilities
- Give a basic level of general behavioral and psychiatric nursing care to mentally or developmentally disabled patients/youth.
- Conduct daily clinical rounds and monitor patients/youth with signs and symptoms of mental illness.
- Under general supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Medical Doctor (MD), perform psychiatric nursing procedures, including administering medications and treatments, performing hypodermic injections, taking and charting temperature, pulse, blood pressure and respiration, and all other basic general nursing procedures within the scope of licensure.
- Work with other disciplines as part of the Treatment Team in developing treatment plans and objectives from assessments and in providing an overall treatment program for patients/youth.
- Assist in developing group and individual therapy regimens and act as a provider of group therapy to patients/youth.
- Provide liaison activities with custody personnel in managing mentally or developmentally disabled patients/youth.
- Observe patients’/youths’ physical condition and behavior and report significant changes.
- Prepare and coordinate clinical appointment dates and times, and assist in ensuring patients/youth attend their clinical appointments.
- Assist in first responder duties, such as providing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and first aid as needed.
- Follow all documentation procedures accurately and completely as required.
- Help create a safe, secure and therapeutic environment for patients/youth.
